二、消防B，即液體火災和熔化固體材料火災，應使用干粉、泡沫、鹵化烷烴和二氧化碳滅火器。這里值得注意的是，化學泡沫滅火器不能撲滅B型極性溶劑火災。由于化學泡沫與有機溶劑接觸，泡沫會被迅速吸收，使泡沫迅速消失。這樣，就不能把火撲滅了。醇、醛、酮、醚、酯等是極性溶劑。乙類火災：指液體火災和可熔固體材料火災。如汽油、煤油、原油、甲醇、乙醇、瀝青等。

三、采用干粉、鹵代烷、二氧化碳滅火器撲滅C類火災，即燃氣火災。丙類火災：指瓦斯火災。如煤蒸氣、天然氣、甲烷、乙烷等。

四、撲滅D類火災，即金屬燃燒火災，目前還沒有符合我國國情的定型滅火器產品。國外主要有粉末石墨滅火器和金屬火災專用干粉滅火器。在我國尚未定型滅火器和滅火劑珠時，可用干砂或鑄鐵泡沫滅火。D類火災：指金屬火災。如鉀、鈉、鎂、鈦、鋁鎂合金等。
